Alongside the birthstone, every month also has its own birth flower. January carnation, February violet, March daffodil, April daisy, May lily of the valley, June rose, July larkspur, August gladiolus, September aster, October marigold, November chrysanthemum, December holly. As jewellery, the flower is quieter than a stone: a fine engraving in the metal instead of colour and sparkle.
These three pieces are chosen most often for this:

For contextThe meanings given are traditional symbolism from the 19th-century language of flowers. They describe what a flower stands for and do not promise any effect.
Where birth flowers come from
The assignment of flowers to months is older than that of the stones. Its present-day form goes back to the language of flowers, which became popular in England and France in the 19th century: because much could not be said openly, people said it with flowers. Every bloom was given a meaning, and whole books explained the codes.
Which flower belongs to which month was originally decided simply by what blooms in that month. That is why the assignments still fit the feel of the season so well today: the daffodil in March, the lily of the valley in May, the holly in December.
Birth flower or birthstone?
Both stand for the same month, but they work differently. The stone is colour and sparkle, it stands out. The flower is a fine drawing in the metal, and only catches the eye on a second look. Anyone who prefers it understated chooses the flower. Anyone who wants both chooses a piece that brings flower and stone together.
More pieces with a birth flower
With each of these pieces, you choose the month yourself, and the matching flower is set accordingly. A name or a date can be added on request.

Good to knowThe flower is engraved into the metal as a fine drawing, not printed on. So it does not fade. We need 3 working days for the engraving, plus delivery time.
When the flower is the wrong choice
- When it should stand out. The engraving is deliberately understated. Anyone who wants colour and sparkle is better served by the birthstone.
- For small children. The flower only makes sense once someone asks about it. For children, a guardian angel or a heart feels more immediate.
- As a quick gift to bring along. The month has to be right, otherwise the whole point is lost. If you are not sure of the date of birth, choose something else.
What do you write on the card?
These are the lines our customers write most often themselves:
- Happy birthday, only the best for you.
- Your flower, your month.
- Stay exactly as you are.
- You are a wonderful gift.
Allow enough spaceYou write it in the cart, in three fields: Greeting, Message, Signature. Together, around 150 characters fit in. So around 100 characters remain for the message itself.
